Nice mood. Not sure though why HDR is used and needed. I would think with proper exposure and camera settings in conjunction with filters like ND you could control the light in this one. You live in the woods?

@Moser: It's close enough to the woods, but not quite. I used HDR because the reds, oranges and greens weren't showing with the numerous white balance, aperture and shutter speed combinations I tried. Without it, the whole bottom area and parts of the trees would be a dull blackish brown color. Part of my ongoing experiments to produce non-over-the-top HDRs that are seen on numerous sites.

I'm no photo expert, so I can't comment on the necessity of HDR, but I definitely appreciate the subtle colors and extra details shown at the bottom and in the trunks, however they were achieved. The tangled branches look both delicate and a bit sinister, like barbed wire, and the atmospheric effects look great. Not sure I would have chosen such a centralized composition, but I think it works here.
